Damone Clark is one of the gems in LSU’s 2018 recruiting class and one of the top defensive prospects in the country.
So it should come as no surprise as he garners national attention.
Clark, a 4-star linebacker from Southern University Lab (La.) School in Baton Rouge, was named to the Butkus Award High School Watch List for 2017.
At 6-foot-3 and 218 pounds, Clark is rated as the No. 13 inside linebacker in the class and a top-10 prospect inside the state of Louisiana. A top-300 prospect nationally, Clark will be playing the CAT position for Southern Lab his senior season, which means he’ll be playing both inside and outside linebacker, some safety and rush the passer on occasion.
As a junior, Clark helped his high school football team capture a third straight Louisiana state championship. Clark was responsible for 48 tackles, including 5.0 for loss, four interceptions and four sacks on the year.
Clark runs a 4.67 40 time and has a 4.2 GPA. His other offers include Stanford, Michigan, Miami and Texas A&M, among others. He committed to LSU on Jan. 15, just days after picking up the offer from coach Ed Orgeron and defensive coordinator Dave Aranda.
