SRINAGAR: Militants killed a 18-year-old girl and injured another at Seer village of Tral in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Sunday as several gun-wielding youth ransacked homes of a police officer and local PDP leader in the same area. In another incident, a group of militants threw a grenade on the Tral residence of National Conference (NC) leader Mohammad Ashraf Bhat in which a CRPF officer sustained splinter injuries.
Eighteen-year-old Yasmeena was shot dead and Rubeena, wife of Muhammad Shafi Wagay, was injured in the attack by militants. Police is yet to ascertain the reason for the attack. "Terrorists barged into a house in Seer Jagir Tral and fired at the women present there. Among them, 18-year-old Yasmeena... was killed and Rubeena... was injured," police said. The injured woman was shifted to a hospital and the area was cordoned off by security forces to nab the culprits.
Gunmen ransacked house of PDP zonal president Peer Mohammad Ashraf in Tral on Saturday and two hours later, a group of masked militants ransacked home of a police officer in Batagund village.
The gunmen barged into house of Ghulam Ahmed Bhat, working as assistant sub-inspector and vandalised his residence at around 10pm, according to reports. "Few masked gunmen came inside our house and vandalised the property," a family member, said. Security forces launched a search operation for the culprits. However, no one has been arrested, police sources said. On Sunday, militants hurled a grenade, at the home of a NC leader in Tral, according to official sources. CRPF officer Ali Mohammad was injured and had to be hospitalised. The NC leader's security guards, according to the sources, retaliated with firing. The security forces have launched a hunt to nab the assailants.
