Himachal landslide: 8 killed in Mandi after bus rolls down by a km, toll likely to go up

Eight people were killed after a state roadways bus fell off the road following a landslide in Padhar area of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.

Many more are feared to be killed in the accident which took place around 12.30 am on Sunday. Due to the landslide, the bus skidded off the road and rolled down by almost a kilometre.

Another state roadways bus was also hit by the landslide. At least a dozen small vehicles are trapped in the landslide. A four-storey building too collapsed due to the landslide.

A stretch of the National Highway 21, that passes through Mandi, has been closed fearing more landslides.

Rescue operations, which were on since wee hours, had to be stopped due to more landslides in the area. Four people were rescued from the debris.
