"The event has offered counselling to all its staff"
Bestival have shared a statement on their âzero toleranceâ drugs policy, following the tragic death of 25-year-old Louella Michie at the festival this past weekend.
Michie had been attending the festival and was reported missing just before 1am on Monday (Sept 11). Her body was later found in the wooded area at the edge of the festivalâs site.
A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder, before Michieâs father and Holby City actor John Michie labelled the death a âtragic mistakeâ, and revealed that the man in custody was Louellaâs boyfriend. He has since been released.
Now, Bestival have made a statement on their drugs policy, after it was reported that class A drugs were involved in the incident.
âBestival has a Zero Tolerance drugs policy,â the statement begins, before detailing the structures in place to prevent drugs entering the site.
âThe tragic incident,â the statement concludes, âwhich took place in what police describe as a âwooded area on the edge of the festival siteâ and not as some reports have indicated in the âAmbient Forestâ arena, has devastated all those involved and the event has offered counselling to all staff.â

Yesterday (September 13), John Michie shared a photo of his daughterâs bedroom in memory of her, with numerous people commenting below with condolences and messages of support.
âWeâve lost our angelâ, he told The Sun earlier this week. âItâs not murder â they were friends. It was just a tragic mistake, a tragic accident. This was not a murder. They were boyfriend and girlfriend.
âShe touched so many lives. She was so very positive, so bright, so out there. She had such energy. The tributes to her have been incredible.â
Loyle Carner also paid tribute to Michie after her death was announced, revealing that he had known her since he was âlittleâ.
âHeartbroken to hear what happened at bestival. Iâve known Louella since I was littleâ, the rapper wrote.
âShe was intelligent, beautiful, funny and always used to look out for me. Sending all my love to her family xâ
