Newtown man arrested for alleged connection to fatal boating collision

NEWTOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — A Newtown man is facing charges after police say was responsible for the death of a Sandy Hook man over the summer.
According to police, on July 11, 55-year-old Mark Rudzinski was operating a ski boat on Lake Zoar when it collided with a pontoon boat.
The operator of the pontoon boat, 52-year-old Randall Pineau, was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Pineau’s wife, Katherine, also suffered minor injuries.
Rudzinski is facing multiple charges including Reckless Boating in the First Degree.
He was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 31.
