‘Man, stay home’
South Carolina commits Dakereon Joyner and RJ Roderick are trying to convince 4-star LB Channing Tindall to stay in-state and play for the Gamecocks.

The three were in Columbia on Sunday for the High Schools Sports Report media day at the Gamecocks’ indoor practice facility.
Another Gilmore in garnet?
Three-star CB Steven Gilmore Jr., younger brother of former South Carolina CB Stephon Gilmore, released his final four schools last week: South Carolina, Georgia, Louisville and North Carolina.
The Rock Hill, S.C., standout broke down each school with SEC Country’s Hale McGranahan.
Top 5 for Top-250 player
Former Florida safety commit C.J. Smith unveiled his top 5 schools on Saturday, including: South Carolina, Louisville, Michigan, Oklahoma and Oregon.
The West Palm Beach, Fla., native is rated as the No. 248 player in the nation, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Hayden Hurst, Skai Moore nab All-SEC honors
South Carolina TE Hayden Hurst and LB Skai Moore were named preseason All-SEC second-team players by the media on Friday. WR Deebo Samuel made the third team.
Young and ready to run
South Carolina running backs Rico Dowdle and A.J. Turner combined for 1,261 yards and 9 touchdowns in 2016. With the addition of North Carolina transfer Ty’Son Williams, the trio could emerge as one of the top running back corps in the SEC.
Zion Williamson can do it all
According to 5-star basketball prospect Zion Williamson, South Carolina coach Frank Martin told the small forward he could play multiple positions for the Gamecocks.
“[Martin] said they have plenty of bigs,” Williamson told SEC Country on Friday, “So I’d probably play the 1, 2 or 3 throughout the whole season.”

Former South Carolina goalkeeper Brad Guzan (2003-04) will return to Atlanta United after being dropped from the U.S. Men’s National Team Gold Cup roster. Guzan could make his debut for the club as early as Friday, according to Dirty South Soccer.
Former South Carolina S D.J. Swearinger held his first celebrity basketball game on Saturday night at Benedict College Gym in Columbia.
Ex-Gamecocks Jadeveon Clowney, Stephen Garcia, Stephon Gilmore, Melvin Ingram, Darian Stewart and many more were in attendance. South Carolina coach Will Muschamp even made an appearance.
