Tennessee football Orange and White Game scoring system revealed - World News

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Spring football game scoring systems can range from conventional to cooky, and Tennessee’s is leaning hard away from the conventional side.

Some 50,000 are expected at Neyland Stadium for the annual Orange and White Game even with the Vols’ roster limited by injuries.

Coach Butch Jones told SEC Country on Monday night during his appearance at the UT softball game that he’d prefer to do a conventional scrimmage, split the team evenly, with the Orange and the White each having an offense and a defense.

But the carryover from a brutal 2016 season left too many players recovering from offseason surgeries, and an emphasis on physicality and toughness nicked up a few more during the first 14 spring football practices.

What’s left is just enough to allow the offense to play against the defense in a limited amount of snaps, some situational, in addition to an exhibition of one-on-one drills.

Truth be known, Tennessee’s quarterback skills competition will get most of the attention.

The Vols’ have a quarterback derby with two leading candidates — junior Quinten Dormady and redshirt freshman Jarrett Guarantano — and redshirt sophomore Sheriron Jones and true freshman Will McBride trying to stay in the picture.

Here’s a look at the scoring for Saturday’s Orange and White game at Neyland Stadium:
