Presidential election: United opposition would make it difficult for BJP, says Nitish - World News

KOCHI: An integrated opposition is the need of the hour with the upcoming presidential poll, said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar addressing the mediapersons in Kochi on Friday.

The statement gains significance in the wake of reports that the Bihar CM had met Congress president Sonia Gandhi to arrive at a common candidate.

Speaking about the liquor ban policy in Bihar he said, “Complete liquor ban is feasible and it is a big success. The State exchequer got Rs 5,000 crore as revenue in 2015 by way of tax from liquor sale and allied activities. After the ban, this revenue was completely lost, but we have successfully overcome the crisis.”

Encouraging the Kerala government to implement a similar policy, Nitish Kumar asked them to carry out a study in Bihar to find out if the liquor ban policy is feasible for the southern State.
